Rule Index

458. Appeals
Mutable
Keywords: [ Judgments ] [ Referendums ]
The ruling on an RFJ may, under circumstances specified by the rules, be overturned. If a TRUE ruling is overturned, it becomes FALSE. If a FALSE ruling is overturned, it becomes TRUE. If any other ruling is overturned, it is set aside, and a new Judge is chosen to provide another ruling. Any comments submitted by a Judge with a ruling lose whatever power they might have had to guide play when that ruling is overturned.

Any active player may submit an Appeal Referendum to have the ruling on any Request for Judgment overturned. If such a referendum passes, the ruling for that RFJ is overturned. If more than one appeal of the same RFJ passes during the same turn, the combined effect of these appeals is to overturn the RFJ's ruling once and once only.

If the original ruling on an RFJ has not yet been appealed, and some player points out in the public forum that it is simply wrong, and the player who, as a Judge, returned that ruling explicitly agrees in the public forum that it is wrong, then that ruling will be immediately overturned without the necessity of an appeal.

For any RFJ, the current ruling takes precedence over all prior rulings on that case. This rule takes precedence over all mutable rules pertaining to Judgments, Appeals, and RFJ's.
